Applying for Federal Loans
Students who choose to apply for a Federal Loan will need to complete the following steps:

Step 1 | File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). |
Step 2 | Accept your financial aid via My Financial Aid. You can accept the entire amount, partial amount or decline each type of aid. |
Step 3 | Complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at http://studentaid.gov/mpn/. Click "Sign in" to begin the process. You will sign in using your FSA ID. |
Step 4 | Complete the Federal Direct Loan entrance counseling. |
Notice to Direct Loan Borrowers
All Federal Direct Loan information will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and will be accessible by agencies and institutions determined to be authorized users of the data system. Borrowers can access their own student loan history by visiting the NSLDS website.
Direct Loan Exit Counseling
When a student borrower graduates or otherwise ceases to be enrolled at least half-time, the borrower is required to complete a loan exit counseling session.
